Hi, I'm Selina Hernandez, the artist behind Casa Sáadora.

Casa Sáadora is a creative studio that utilizes photography, painting, and creative partnerships to explore the concepts of vulnerability, identity, and growth. Our goal is to tell stories, both ours and those of our creative partners. Using a range of hands-on materials, we work to understand and communicate the shapes and sounds, not just of our collective pasts, but of our futures as well.

Bearing Witness

Born into a family of artists and musicians in a city marked by segregation and strife, I learned more than color theory and melodic scales. I learned how cycles can continue, but also crumble. And through these experiences, I found an early calling: to understand and bear witness to things true, resilient, and beautiful. The way the light fell just so, the way the yellowed afternoon rays softly absorbed the bruised and battered air. How things marvelous and grand nuzzle their way into hidden corners and solitary spaces, bringing precious moments of hope and joy despite the banging and the bashings of our small world gone cold. Today, this drive to capture and share what fills us with beauty, understanding, and connection is the heartbeat behind my creative voice.
